Create a vision board online – my digital vision board as a template

The new year is coming up and for me that means a new vision board is needed. Once a year I set goals and create a vision board for the whole year and with long term goals. But every 2 months I update my digital vision board. I will create my vision board online using the program Canva. Today I’ll show you how I create my digital vision board online, what I look for when choosing my goals and digital vision board templates.

1. What is a vision board?

A vision board or dream board is a collage of images that represent your personal goals. It serves to get a clear picture of their own goals and serves as motivation. Some successful personalities confirm the effect of a vision board and people who have tested it are surprised by its effect. Just getting in touch with your own desires and dreams can ignite a new fire in some people and create the motivation it sometimes takes to take the first step. You can create the vision board in paper format or as a digital vision board.

2. Set goals for different areas of life

If you have no idea where to start, you can first define a few areas of life. According to the area you then set your goal. For example career, a goal could be, 100.000€ a year to earn. Another area could be social contacts, there would be a goal 1x per week to call the family. How you create these goals is up to you, but I would recommend that you leave space on a white sheet of paper for different areas of your life and then write them all down.

3. Advantages of visual goals

Why should you not only write down your goals, but also print them out in picture form?? If you have your goal in mind, it is easier for most people to imagine the realization of it. Visualize is the keyword. If you visualize your goals, it is easier to believe that you will succeed.

4. Set goals correctly

It often happens that you have a big dream, wish or goal and at the same time you think that you will never reach it and yet there are people who have achieved incredible things. If you have just started to define goals, you should consider these tips to achieve “small” goals. If you have achieved them, it is easier for you to believe in achieving bigger goals.

Set specific goals:

Your destination should be as precise as possible. An example: X I want to read more vs. I would like to read 30min motivational books every day

How much do you want to achieve the goal?!

Does it warm your heart when you think about achieving a goal? Your heart must burn for it and only when you really want it, your dream will come true.

How much do you believe that you can reach your goal??!

You should be firmly convinced that your goal is achievable for YOU. If this is not the case, then try to work your way there bit by bit. Z.B. You want to have 100 customers by the end of 2021, but you only have 20 right now, then set your goal like this, I want to double my number of customers in the next 3 months.

When do you want to reach the goal?!

Set a time frame in which you want to achieve your set goal. The most important thing is that you set realistic time frames and don’t give up if you don’t reach it 100%. Then keep in mind how much more you have achieved in time so at the beginning when you set the goal.

5. Collect Vision Board Images

The best source for vision board images is Pinterest. Here you can find the right image for all topics and copy and paste it easily. If you don’t find what you’re looking for, try a Google search, I find many of my goal images using this method. Collect one image for each goal and select it so that you immediately know which goal is hiding behind the image.

6. Create a vision board online

If you have a selection of images, now it can come to the fun part. I create my vision board online with Canva. Canva is a graphic design platform that can be used to create posters, graphics, etc. Can be created and especially for social media the site is super and free. Here I create my Pinterest graphics. For my Digital Vision Board, which I use as wallpaper for my Macbook Pro, I first create a new design in the format 2560px X 1600px. You need to find out in advance what the screen dimensions of your computer are. Now you have a blank canvas and you can arrange your pictures, sayings and texts as you like. In the next point, I’ll show you a few vision board examples of how you can arrange your goals.

8. How to really reach your goals

Maybe you’re thinking of a goal now that you’ve been dying to achieve and you’ve visualized it, but it hasn’t come to fruition yet. Now I’ll give you the last tips how to really reach your goal and how your Vision Board can help you.

Recognize progress and move on

Every step is a step forward, realize what you have achieved and if you haven’t reached your goal in a certain period of time, it’s not that big of a deal. Just go ahead and customize your vision board.

Set realistic, specific goals

As mentioned above, set your goals in a way that you can believe you can achieve them. It’s not worth to create a vision board with only goals that you can’t believe in or that you don’t want from your heart.

New motivation through fulfilled goals Book

The practical thing about a vision board in paper form is that you can glue and collect achieved goals in an extra book. If you lack motivation, you can browse through it. Also with the digital vision board you can create a Word document or a folder and collect there all the goals you have achieved.

DO something for it every day

The magic word for all goals is DO. Work on your goals every day and try to motivate yourself every day. If one day you can’t do anything, that’s ok too. Just keep going 🙂
